An industrial boiler overhaul includes inspection and diagnostics, repair or replacement of worn parts, including membrane walls, flame and smoke tubes, superheaters, economisers, drums and headers. Depending on the boiler's condition, the work may also include replacement of refractory and insulation, reconstruction of individual assemblies, pressure testing and preparation of technical documentation for the inspection authority.
When is reconstructing a boiler house better than a new boiler?
Reconstructing a boiler house pays off when part of the existing equipment and installations is in good technical condition and can be safely adapted to new requirements. Depending on the condition found, reconstruction may include boiler modernisation, replacement of burners, controls and auxiliary equipment, energy efficiency improvements or adapting the boiler house to a new operating regime. The decision is made after an expert inspection and a comparison of reconstruction costs with a new boiler. When the existing equipment cannot ensure reliable, safe and economical operation, a new boiler is recommended.
